Now, in the 80s, you basically had two types of Guitar Gods: the Neo-Classical speed shredders, such as Yngwie Malmsteen, Vinnie Vincent, Mark St. John, and Vito Bratta, and on the other side of the spectrum were the players who were more rooted in the 70s Classic Rock and Blues, such as Slash, CC Deville, Bruce Kulick and of course, Mick Sweda. After the release of his article, Daly was invariably peppered with comments from various people suggesting other albums so Vinyl Writer Music issued a Part II titledThe Road to The Roxy: 10 Underrated Glam & Hair Metal Era Albums Part II. Most people will recall this as The record that came out after The Final Countdown, or The record that came out after John Norum left the band. For many reasons, this is a pretty sad state of affairs, as this record is really, honestly nearly as good as The Final Countdown, if not, dare I say itbetter. So being that I grew up on this stuff and have been doing a hair metal podcast for 20 years Ill lay on a few more underrated jems: BANG TANGO Psycho Cafe, DANGEROUS TOYS self-titled debut, LYNCH MOB Wicked Sensation, DON DOKKEN Up From the Ashes, FIREHOUSE self-titled debut, KIX Hot Wire, XYZ Hungry, ICON self-titled debut, BANYLON A.D. self-titled debut, CHILDS PLAY Rat Race, EXTREME self-titled debut, RACER X Second Heat, SLEEZE BEEZ Screwed, Blued, & Tattooed, and lastly Y&T, they have so many underrated albums it is mind blowing. Blue Murder - Blue Murder (1990) 7800 Fahrenheit really pulls no punches, and it played a huge role in shaping the shaping of the sound that was to come for Bon Jovi. Blending the best of 80's AOR rock with just the right amount of hair metal, the album features some of the era's best rock songs and two of the best power ballads of the late 80's/early 90's. . Blue Murder Blue Murder (1989) Now that weve got my justification out of the way lets talk significance. Other bands just because I am biased, but from Divebomb - SARGANT FURY, DIMAGE and CASANOVA. Cruella DVille - Showdown in Tinsel Town Because of their look, they were thought of as a Poison copy. Also, weve added in a few that we feel could have, or maybe even should have, been on the first list as well. I wasnt a fan at all. If you dont, I promise youll regret it later. How about Roxy Blue and Wildside? As a whole, this record does have minor ups and downs. Britny Foxs record company (Columbia Records) seemed to agree and unceremoniously dropped Britny Fox, effectively leaving them for dead. Louder is part of Future plc, an international media group and leading digital publisher. I still need to try and get used to the vocals in Heavy Pettin, but Q5 is indeed awesome. You can hear every instrument, all clean, all cristaline. In retrospect, the tone and style of the record truly are the last of what we have come to know as Glam Metal styling, as not too many albums like it came out afterward if any did at all. Like Hericane Alice, one can only imagine that Wildside would have been an absolutely huge success had their debut hit the streets a few years prioreven more so considering the good fortune that was lining up in their favor prior to the album's release. Jani Lane, Joey Allen and Steven Sweet are not original members of Warrant. If you're old enough to have been reading guitar magazines in the early-'90s, you probably at least recognize the name Gary Hoey, and may recall having seen him in a good number of advertisements, if nothing else. One year prior Skid Row had done quite well with comparable tracks, but by '92 I guess it was just too late, despite the musical chops and name recognition of Heavy Bones' lineup. 02. Those tracks are transcendent rockers, and his backing band of Tod Howarth, John Regan, and Anton Fig are a truly inspired bunch who had sensational chemistry. Hericane Alice formed in Minnesota in the mid-'80s, and released their debut self-titled EP in 1986 under the properly spelled name of Hurricane Alice. - In my personal opinion, two of the best damn sleaze bands nobody has ever heard of This album defined early L.A. glam metal. Most of their material follows a slower, pulsing paceat times leaning a touch more towards classic, traditional heavy metal than much of this list (notably during "On My Way," dueling leads 'n' all). But they could write some damn catchy tunes. A dud. Q5 had two albums that would simply destroy you. These are the forgotten heroes of hair metal. Another one from 1984 that influenced tons of bands in the 80's. Still, damn good sleaze metal. This, along with a few other releases in 1983, blew the door wide open for metal to gain mainstream success. Kix had kind of an AC/DC vibe, but this album is pure hair metal. I would suggest though a few more bands that arent as well known.
